Feeding the homebound of Prescott since 1973
Most of us take for granted that we will be enjoying at least one one hot meal a day, but there are many people right here in Prescott who are unable to cook that meal or even go out to buy food.
FEEDING THE HOMEBOUND
Our kitchen staff prepares over 300 meals a day (75,000 last year). Volunteers box the food and pack it in hot and cold thermos containers for delivery by other volunteers driving their own vehicles. These volunteers check on the well-being of recipients and for most are their only daily outside contact.
FEEDING SENIORS
Other seniors come to our dining room where they can enjoy the same meal as delivered to the homebound. Our volunteer servers staff the buffet line, help people get food to their tables and clear the tables in the dinning room.
VOLUNTEERS
Meals on Wheels could not exist without the 100+ volunteers who donate their time, energy, talents and cheerful attitudes to improve the lives of those who need help.
A NEW KITCHEN AND DINING ROOM
Prescott Meals on Wheels (PMOW) moved to our new facility on Rosser Road in January of 2007. We are able to seat 150 patrons in our new dining room. Our share of the new building's construction costs plus costs to furnish the new facility have depleted our reserve funds. PMOW is financed 35% through the Older Americans Act, and the remaining is raised through fundraising, donations and grants. The building is furnished by the city, but we receive no operational funding from the City of Prescott.
